This year I have been looking at everyday things we do and use around our house. I want to apply design and function to organize and make our lives a little bit happier, more creative and less stressful.
When August rolled around, we were shopping for school supplies and came across the dreaded pencil box or pouch. Either option will never hold all the supplies my 4th grader, Layla, needs. Too short for a ruler, too narrow for markers, colored pencils, scissors, crayons…basically everything except the kitchen sink!.
So Layla & I went to the drawing board and sketched out everything we would need to create our own pouch. A trifold seemed the best option. Pouches get too wide in the middle and you have to take everything out to get something from the bottom. Not very friendly. With a trifold we are able to have items live in a specific place, creating a flat, easy to store pouch that will easily slide in her desk bin.
Now Layla can easily get to her markers, crayons and other accessories with a smile. She loves everything rainbow and now she can carry one with her!
